recommendsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Facebook. We cannot recommend Martin & Tricia highly enough. They have kept our holiday cottage carpets in ‘brand new’ condition for years. They’ve also treated our mattresses and will be cleaning our curtains in situ shortly. They’re so professional and helpful, we wouldn’t trust anyone else 😊

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 5 star service from Cleaning Doctor South Devon. It’s the second time I’ve used Tricia and Martin to clean our carpets and rugs. The service and result is amazing and well priced. They work so well as a couple and also give great advice regarding moth proofing certain areas. Having a young Labrador, who is allowed everywhere, my buttermilk carpets were definitely turning into more of a Devon red muddy colour, a few hard working hours from Cleaning Doctor and they are buttermilk colour again. I cannot thank them enough, the result is incredible and I would never have thought they could clean them to get that result. They are such lovely people too. Don’t even think about using anyone else. Thanks Tricia and Martin and love from Willow 🐾🐾🙏🏼

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Martin and Tricia were friendly, polite and professional and most importantly did a smashing job on our two heavily used sofas and armchair They gave them a new lease of life, left them looking really clean and protected them for the next couple of years too.

My professional accreditations

We Treat Every Stain Type

Specialist solutions for common household accidents in South Devon.

Red Wine & Coffee

Dark tannin stains can be permanent if treated incorrectly. We use specific reducers to lift the colour safely.

Pet Accidents

We treat urine spots to remove both the stain and the odour bacteria, preventing pets from re-marking the area.

Makeup & Cosmetics

Oil-based products like lipstick and foundation require specialist solvents to break down without spreading.

Blood & Bodily Fluids

Protein-based stains need enzyme treatments. We handle these safely and hygienically.

Ink & Paint

Whether it's a dropped pen or a DIY spill, we have solvents designed to dissolve ink and paint pigments.

Food & Grease

Cooking oils and food spills are broken down with high-heat extraction and degreasers.

Don't DIY!

Supermarket stain removers often bleach carpets or set the stain permanently. Call us first for the best chance of success.

Fully Insured

We are fully trained and insured to work on your valuable carpets and furnishings.

Our Process

Science-Based Stain Removal

We identify the fibre and the stain to choose the correct chemical solution.

1. Identification & Treatment

We first identify the carpet fibre (wool, synthetic, etc.) and the type of stain. We then apply the specific cleaning agent designed for that unique combination.

Fibre Test: Ensures safety

Chemistry: pH balanced solutions

Dwell Time: Breaks down the stain

2. Rinse & Extraction

After the treatment has worked, we rinse the area with fresh water extraction equipment. This removes the stain residue and the cleaning chemical, leaving no sticky residue behind.

Thorough Rinse: No chemical residue

Success Check: Inspect results immediately

Warning

DIY cleaners can lock stains in.

Success Rate

Higher if we treat it first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about stain removal.

Can you remove every stain?

While we can remove the vast majority of spots and spills, no cleaner can guarantee 100% removal of every stain. Some substances (like bleach, strong dyes, or old urine) can permanently alter the carpet fibre. We will always inspect and give you an honest assessment before starting.

Does pet urine smell go away?

In most cases we can significantly reduce or completely eliminate pet urine odour using specialist enzyme treatments that break down the uric acid crystals and bacteria causing the smell. However, we always give an honest assessment upfront. If urine has soaked beyond the carpet into the underlay, subfloor, floorboards, skirting boards or other surfaces, it can sometimes be impossible to remove the odour completely. We will always let you know what results we expect to achieve before we begin any work.

Should I use supermarket stain remover?

We strongly advise against it. Many off-the-shelf products contain bleaching agents that can permanently discolour your carpet or "set" the stain, making it impossible for a professional to remove later. Call us first for the best chance of success.

How soon should I call you?

Immediately! The longer a stain sits, the more it bonds with the fibre. Blot (don't rub) any excess liquid with a clean white towel, then call us to arrange a visit.

Can you re-apply stain protection?

Yes. After we have removed the stain and cleaned the area, we highly recommend applying a stain protector (like Scotchgard) to make future spills easier to wipe up before they penetrate the pile.
