Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paul arrived punctually at my home just prior to the expected time as arranged.
He took a few minutes to unload his equipment and explained in a professional and friendly manner exactly what he planned to do.
The work carried out was to a very high standard. I observed him checking each section of work as he progressed through the job to be undertaken.
I was highly pleased with the finished result and would have no hesitation in recommending his work.
It certainly was good value for the amount paid.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently moved house and needed a bit of sprucing up. I was recommended Paul and I’m glad I engaged his services. I needed the patio/driveway cleaned, the roof scraped and sealed, and the PVC fascia cleaned around the house.

Paul was quick to respond and took it from there. He was exceptionally prompt in getting me booked in, and the quote was more than reasonable compared to others in the area.

All the work was completed to a brilliant standard. The old sayings are true: if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys—and you get what you pay for. Paul is certainly no monkey; he is clearly a professional who knows exactly what he is doing. I considered buying the equipment and doing this myself, but it would have taken me weekends to complete to a much lower standard.

I am very happy I took this recommendation and hope you do the same. Fantastic service from a genuine and interesting gent.

Why Choose Cleaning Doctor?

The benefits of our professional patio cleaning services in Middown.

Natural Stone Experts

We understand different stone types - sandstone, limestone, granite, slate - and use appropriate pressure and treatments for each to avoid damage.

Black Spot Removal

Those stubborn black spots are actually lichen. We use specialist biocide treatments that kill the organism at the root for lasting removal.

Safety & Grip

Algae-covered patios are dangerously slippery. Our cleaning restores grip and we can apply anti-slip treatments for extra safety.

Decking Restoration

We also clean and restore wooden and composite decking, removing slippery algae and restoring the original appearance. See decking cleaning

Weed Control

We remove all weeds from joints and can apply treatments to inhibit regrowth. Re-pointing services are also available.

Long Lasting Results

Our biocide treatments continue working for weeks after cleaning, preventing rapid regrowth of algae and moss.

Price Promise

The price quoted includes all labour, materials and equipment - no hidden extras or surprise charges. Same promise whether your patio or deck is in Killyleagh or the far end of our area.

Fully Insured

We carry full public liability insurance for all exterior cleaning work, giving you complete peace of mind.

Decking Cleaning in Mid Down

We specialise in gently cleaning and restoring timber and composite decking. We remove slippery algae, moss, and grime without damaging the wood fibres. We look after decking all around Crumlin and Saintfield, from small back-garden decks to large raised ones.

Removes Slippery Algae

Safe for Wood & Composite

Optional Smartseal® Sealing

Safe Restoration, Not Destruction

We use specific techniques to clean decking without stripping the wood surface.

1. Treatment & Cleaning

We start by applying a professional cleaning agent to break down algae and grime. We then use a flat-surface rotary cleaner to gently lift the dirt from the grooves.

Pre-Treatment: Loosens stubborn dirt

Rotary Clean: Consistent, streak-free finish

Gentle Pressure: Protects wood grain

2. Smartseal® Sealing & Protection

Once the deck is thoroughly cleaned, we can seal it with premium Smartseal® wood sealer. This seals the wood, enhancing the colour, repelling water and prevents green growth.

Quality protection: Weather resistance

Water Repellent: Preserves colour and integrity

Anti-Slip

Removes biological slime.

Wood Care

Nourishes dried timber.

Why Clean Your Decking?

The benefits of our professional decking restoration services.

Restore Safety

Algae and moss make wet decking incredibly slippery and dangerous. We remove this hazard to make your deck safe to walk on year-round.

Gentle Cleaning

We use rotary head cleaners and appropriate pressure settings to clean the wood deeply without "furring" or damaging the delicate fibres.

Remove Stains

Our process removes ingrained dirt, food stains, and general grime, revealing the natural wood grain beneath.

Composite Decking

We are experts in cleaning modern composite decking materials, ensuring they are cleaned safely according to manufacturer guidelines.

Smartseal® Sealing

After cleaning, we can apply premium Smartseal® wood sealer and wood protector to protect it from UV rays and rot.

Prevent Rot

Removing moss and algae allows the wood to dry out properly, preventing the damp conditions that lead to wood rot and decay.

Decking Questions

Common questions about our decking cleaning services.

Will pressure washing damage the wood?

It can if done incorrectly with too much pressure or the wrong nozzle. We use professional rotary flat surface cleaners and adjust the pressure to gently lift dirt without "furring" or splintering the wood.

Can you clean composite decking?

Yes, absolutely. Composite decking requires careful cleaning to avoid scratching or damaging the finish. We use soft washing techniques and appropriate cleaning solutions safe for composite materials.

Will it be slippery afterwards?

No, quite the opposite! The primary cause of slippery decking is the layer of algae and moss. Once we remove this biological growth, the natural grip of the wood or composite is restored.

Do you oil the deck as well?

Yes, we offer an optional oiling service. Once the deck is clean and fully dry (which may require a separate visit), we can apply high-quality decking oil to nourish the wood and protect it from the elements.

How often should I have my deck cleaned?

We recommend a professional clean once a year, typically in spring, to remove winter grime and algae build-up, ensuring your deck is safe and looking its best for the summer.

Do you seal the deck as well?

Yes, we offer an optional sealing service, using premium Smartseal® deck sealer. Once the deck is clean and fully dry (which may require a separate visit), we can apply it to enhance appearance, protect against weathering and green growth, and prolong the lifespan of your decking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our patio cleaning services.

What are black spots on my patio and can you remove them?

Black spots are actually lichen - a combination of algae and fungus. They have root-like structures that penetrate into the stone. We use specialist biocide treatments that kill the organism at the root, then pressure wash to remove. This provides much longer-lasting results than just pressure washing alone.

Do you offer re-pointing services?

Yes, we can re-point your patio with kiln-dried sand or mortar after cleaning. This stabilises slabs, prevents weed regrowth and gives a neat, finished appearance. We'll advise on the best option for your specific patio type.

Do I need to be home and do you need access to an outside tap?

We do need a water supply, ideally an outside tap. If you don't have one, we can sometimes use an internal tap with a hose run through a window. You don't need to be home as long as we have access to the patio and water supply.

How long before I can walk on my patio after cleaning?

You can usually walk on the patio immediately after cleaning, though it will be wet. If we've applied a sealant, you'll need to keep off for 24-48 hours to allow it to cure properly. We'll give you specific advice based on the treatments used.
